Nancy's first memory of loving flowers is from the age of 7 growing up in Philadelphia and collecting wild flowers such as Black Eyed Susans and Asters, and enjoying the butterflies and birds that they attracted. This interest in wildlife blossomed into a lifelong passion for native plants and pollinators.
Before moving to Delaware in 2002, Nancy was involved in stream and pond restoration in her hometown of Radnor, PA. In 2004 Nancy took the first step to realize her lifelong love of gardening and became a Master Gardener with New Castle County. Nancy's backyard is a Certified Backyard Wildlife Habitat. Nancy is currently pursuing Certificate I & II at Longwood Gardens and will be teaching Edible Landscape Design at Longwood Gardens in July 2010. Nancy oversees the American Beauties and Perennial sections at the garden center (which is also certified as a backyard habitat). Nancy serves as one of the Garden Coaches along with Sandy, Susan and Nancy Miller. Please come see her and take advantage of the wonderful knowledge she has cultivated. Nancy has been with Gateway Garden Center for 3 years.
