Susan has always loved to play in the dirt. At the tender age of 4, she transplanted and grew maple seedlings in her backyard. At the ripe old age of 10, while living on Long Island, her love of gardening bloomed with her own veggie and flower garden.
Susan went to college in Ohio where her path did not follow her true love of gardening. However, her art studies have come through with her beautiful eye for color and spacing. She officially got back to her first love by taking classes in landscape design and horticulture at the New York Botanical Gardens. Susan is currently attending the Certificate of Merit courses at Longwood Gardens. Recently, Susan learned that the maple seedlings she nurtured were actually the highly invasive Norway Maple. In view of this, she is on a mission to educate people about the benefits of native plants. Susan's smiling face is here to greet you in the shade perennial section and can walk you through every aspect of the garden center.
