Prune as needed to keep overall shape of tree. Pruning is best done in mid-winter when branch structure is fully visible and to prevent excessive bleeding that can occur with spring pruning.

Interesting Notes

Acer japonicum 'Aconitifolium' has an upright branching habit.  A beautiful "patio" tree of small garden tree, this maple will be best viewed up close to observe the beautiful fern-like foliage. A true maple from Japan.
