The bright red leaves of 'Fireglow' have a luminescent quality and the best summer color retention of all upright, red palmatums. An intense cherry glow appears in fall. This well-branched Japanese Maple has a moderate growth habit and a broad crown in maturity, so it is appropriate for shading small courtyards and patios. Prune as needed to keep overall shape of tree. Pruning is best done in mid-winter when branch structure is fully visible and to prevent excessive bleeding that can occur with spring pruning.

Interesting Notes

Acer palmatum ‘Fireglow’ is an excellent shoice for a small yard or courtyard.  It has a strong upright branching habit and retains the purple coloration in its leaves throughout the summer months.  It is a moderate grower and has a luminesent quality to its foliage making it as good or better than 'Bloodgood'.
